Quite simple really; misses needs another laptop as she's broken the power plug on her current one (for the third time). This is a common occurrence as she'll use it in sofas etc. so ideally is something like the magnetic contact on the Mac Air (?) as you can't break the power unit inside it but I'm open for other ideas (we've gone through multiple motherboards and chargers with her laptops).

Screen size 15.4" area; windows is a requirement (or I'd consider a Mac). Mainly used to surf, watch movies, some basic tetris play etc. so don't want to pay a premium for a big gaming laptop as it's a gross overkill and waste of money. The laptop will run Windows so 4GB+ of ram is a requirement (I can install it myself if needed) along with a sizeable hdd (1TB+); SDD is not.

Ideally like to keep it 600 EUR or below but the whole sturdiness of the laptop and esp. the power unit is the key part; price comes second to that (with in reason!).

Any laptop that's made with the below manufacturers + this charger.

The ChargeSAFE break-away laptop power connector might be the solution for you… if you own an HP, Dell, Alienware, IBM Thinkpad, Lenovo, Toshiba, ASUS, MSI, Gateway, Fujitsu or Sony laptop. The ChargeSAFE is a two piece solution which consists of a small adapter that plugs into the power port on your laptop and a releasable jack that plugs into the end of your power cable. Together, they offer a non-magnetic, mechanical break-away connection that can help prevent damage to your laptop and trip hazards. If the power cord gets pulled or someone trips over it, with ChargeSAFE, the jack will safely separate from the plug.

Sounds like you need a new wife not a new laptop, that ones pretty careless :pac:

Adverts fox has it down though. The breakaway charger Apple use is presumably patented, Ive never seen it anywhere else. Any tug on a DC jack and it will go after a while, the solution above sounds perfect. Or get her a desktop so she cant break it
