So I bought a Freeview box in Strabane today so I could watch the europa league on ITV4. Am based in Letterkenny and when I tune the box I only get a few of the channels like BBC1/2, UTV, C4, More 4 Channel 5 etc but dont get the others like Dave, Pick, 5USA, ITV3 or ITV4, challenge etc. Any ideas why?.

In NI, only the 3 main transmitters; Divis, Brougher Mountain, & Limavady carry the full Freeview service. If you can't get a good enough signal from 1 of those (Limavady in your case, I would think), then you won't get the services you refer to as 'others'.

Can you list the UHF channel nos. or frequencies of the Freeview services you do receive?

    30/546000, 33/570000, 42/642000, 45/666000, 53/730000, 57/762000.

My mother gets all the freeview channel and she lives about a mile away. I live in an Apartment could it be an aerial problem?.

Edit: I think 30 and 33 are saorview. I get sound but no picture.

If living in Letterkenny, you are more than likely getting Freeview Lite from the Strabane transmitter

Strabane transmitter UHF 42,45,39 (Freeview Lite PSB only) - http://www.ukfree.tv/transmitters/tv/STRABANE
    Limivady transmitter UHF 50,55,59 (PSB) 49,54,58 (Com) - http://www.ukfree.tv/transmitters/tv/LIMAVADY

    UHF 53, 57 - Saorview Letterkenny
    UHF 30, 33 - Saorview Holywell Hill

Sound and no picture would indicate a non-compatible receiver for Saorview. What is the make and model of your receiver?

42 & 45 are the DVB-T (SD) muxes from Strabane. The rest are Saorview.

It will only be an 'aerial problem' in the sense that the apartment aerial is set up for Strabane rather than Limavady. Or maybe you're just using an indoor aerial?

Yeah it's an Alba set top box, £19.99 in Argos. I knew not receiving saorview was a likely-hood but was hoping for all the Freeview channels.

I guess my mother lives on higher ground might be a factor in her receiving the full channel list. Oh well back to streaming i guess. Thanks all.
