Hi, when a solicitor gets the proceeds from a sale of a house by public auction does anyone know how long before the money should be dispersed. He is paying CGT for me but he has the money over 7 weeks now.

You say that the property has been sold. Even if he is paying your CGT out of your sale proceeds, it isn't clear why he needs to hold on to all of the money.

    You should ask him.

He did send out some but will keep the rest till he pays GCT. It should be a quick calculation. I was wondering was this normal? I am getting a bit worried at this stage as he doesn't respond to phone calls or emails.

It depends. Sometimes solicitors agree with clients to hold back money pending agreement with Revenue concerning the CGT calculation. Sometimes there is a delay in getting Revenue to confirm the position.
