This model uses either 300/590 watts hi/low power and the average cost per Kw/h household tariff is about 15c so to run the unit without the humidity thermostat kicking in it would cost 4.5c per hour on low setting and 8.85c per hour on high setting, obviously this is variable and dependent on your particular tariff and humidity in your house. - hope this helps a bit

The number 1 bestseller on Amazon for dehumidifiers is this:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/DeLonghi-148110002-DEM10-Compact-Dehumidifier

It uses 250 watts and can take 10 litre per 24 hour. So based on your specs above the DeLonghi model is 50% more efficient.

Maybe i'm missing something here

Yes your missing the fact that the delonghi uses a traditional refrigeration compressor and will be very noisy and completely useless in low temperature places such as garages holiday homes caravans boats or drying out your car in winter.
Your also missing the fact that the delonghi will do precicely no dehumidifying until the entire evaporator assembly has cooled which takes time and energy in a situation where it cycles on an off automatically this reallys adds up. A dessicant dehumidifier is dehumidifying the instant the fan turns on.
Your also missing the fact that the delonghi 10l per 24h is specified at 32c 80% humidity so you will never see anything like that. Heres a fairly accurate demonstration of liters/day vs temperature.
