Can anyone please help me figure out how to close my mac book, but to have it still run away in the background.

I would run some reports, download stuff, different things that i don't need to be looking at the screen for.

rather than leaving it open for all and sundry to see i would prefer if i could just close it over.

anytime i close it over it seems to just go into sleep mode

incidently, i did the yosamite upgrade.... its crap... anyway i can go back?

Either make the screen black by darkening the brightness or see if you can set a lockable screensaver

id rather just be able to close the lid and stick it under the table out of the way. there must be a way of doing this surely?

I run Caffeiene when I want my Mac to stay awake. Not sure if it still stays awake when the lid is closed though.

Nope it won't! Found this out while doing a big data transfer. Sure I'll just close the screen over while this runs over night. Next morning.... ah damn it!

I use an app called No Sleep for when I need to do work overnight, like media encoding/conversion/etc, or close my Mac when streaming media to my ATV.

It works really well and has some nice settings for both battery and power cord states. I've changed the icon colour to black and I've set it up so that it turns and and off just by double clicking the icon. Give it a go, I'm pretty sure it's exactly what you're looking for.
