Three locations - starts in Guadalajara on the 7th of November, before the event travelling to London in December and then the final round in Cali, Colombia in January. Qualification points for the Rio Olympics on offer. Will be live on Youtube here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixYrSixTSRc

Have no info on Irish involvement :o

I'm pretty sure Ireland have sent both pursuit squads

There are only the Olympic events being run except at London where there will be additional events.

That means there will be Team pursuit and Team Sprint teams with Ireland taking part in both team pursuits. Ireland also have one allocated place in each of the Sprint, Kierin and Omnium in the men with presumably Eoin Mullen taking the first 2 and Martyn Irvine the Omnium. Ireland also have places in the Kierin and Omnium for the women. I presume Shannon McCurley is doing the Kierin and Caroline Ryan the Omnium

Qualification for the team events takes place on Friday with the finals and other events taking place on Saturday and Sunday

No UK broadcasters are listed on the UCI TV Broadcaster list although I would imagine the BBC would sign up for the London event next month

7pm our time, but from what I can see I don't think the UCI Youtube channel is providing live coverage until Sunday

Womens team pusuit up first then the mens qualifying

Start list for the women - Ireland first off with 19 to follow
men - only 23 other teams looking for Olympic qualification points!

4:39.4 for the women - that's a very impressive 13s faster than they did at the Euros although that was an outdoor track

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 78,393 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

The women finish 17th - the men are up next, looking for an improvement on last time:)

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 78,393 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

    4:11.618 - that's only 0.1s outside the Irish record

The women's effort earlier was an Irish record (although they had only previously done this distance last month at the Europeans)

I suspect the guys will be a little disappointed to finish 23rd of 24 starters, but their time was decent enough and for both them and the women's team it's very much early days with plenty of scope for improvement.

Today should be seeing Caroline Ryan and Martyn Irvine returning for their respective Omniums with Eoin Mullen taking part in the Keirin. I understand the action starts at 3pm our time

Sounds like a big crash in the scratch race in the men's Omnium. CI have tweeted that Martyn Irvine is out of the competition. Hope he, as well as everyone else, is OK

6 DNFs down for the scratch race including Viviani as well as Martyn

Caroline Ryan finished 12th in her race. She has clocked 3.34.885 in the pursuit, jusyt half a second outside her national record, although this event is at altitude. The elimination race concludes today's Omnium events

Anyone know what happened? I hope it's not too bad. Poor Martyn :(

Broken collarbone I believe - heard the crash was 3 laps from the end. I presume that puts him out of London which is only 4 weeks away. That puts a bit of pressure on the other 4 guys in the squad. It will be interesting to see whether they put anyone else into the Omnium in London - I know one of the riders will definitely be up for it

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 78,393 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

... and Eoin Mullen relegated in the Kierin for not holding his line in the final 200m. Assuming no further infringement it doesn't make any difference as he goes through to the reperchages anyway

Caroline Ryan finished 6th in the Omnium pursuit which must have moved her up the rankings

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,856 Mod ✭✭✭✭eeeee

Ah crap :( Poor Martyn. Hopefully it's a clean break and heals quickly and well. Ouch.

Pity eoin Mullen has to go through the repechages. He's as strong as a horse though ;)

Well done to Caroline, she's not had a bad championships.

Who are you thinking of for the omnium in London? Mr R Mullen?

Not sure about Ryan, but I've been speaking to his dad and I think Javan really fancies having a go at the Omnium. I do think Javan could adapt pretty well to all 6 disciplines, but Ryan would definitely be very strong at the TT and Pursuit

Caroline Ryan 12th in the Devil. That appears to put her in a very credible 7th place going into the 2nd day. She's not the best at the flying lap, but the new format with the points race last should certainly be to her benefit

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,150 ✭✭✭kumate_champ07

Eoin Mullen 0.089seconds from qualifying into the sprint rounds @ 10.087 /200m

24 riders under 10seconds, Matthew Glaetzer AUS fastest @9.516,
    2nd fastest was 9.747

so 23 riders all within 1/4 of a second of each other,

    its a tough game!
