Importing spirits

    Hi Guys,

My father is setting up a small boutique distillery in South Africa. I was just wondering how would I be able to send some of his product over here for personal consumption. Would I have to pay any taxes? Or do I need to use a special courier service? Any advice about this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Alex

Any imported alcohol is liable for duty and VAT.
I think the best way to go would be for your father to arrange payment to Irish Revenue.

Alternatively, you could import it through a bonded warehouse and pay the duty and VAT through them.

Revenue would really be the people to talk to.
