Heavy Rain With The Risk Of flooding,Wed Night to Fri Morning

    Hi all,

I'm eagerly awaiting what the coming winter might bring but first there could be alot of rain for some, starting tonight in West, the heavy rain looks like coming in 2 parts and with the heaviest in the East most likely occuring come Thursday night.

The are no weather warnings out as yet but this is just to be aware of the potential risk of flooding because I think there could be some very heavy pulses of thundery downpours mixed in with this as it passes.

So just as a guide for now, here is what the HIrlam is showing. Might not be at all too bad but just something else to monitor.

Dublin City flood awareness level (note lack of shouting ;) )

The Dublin City Council issued this warning this morning: "Following receipt of a rainfall warning for the Dublin Area from Met Éireann, and because of a very high tide due at 11 pm tonight (Thursday)Dublin City Council will be deploying staff at Clontarf, Sandymount, Fitzwilliam Quay and Cardiff Lane as a precautionary measure.

"The flood gates on the River Dodder will be closed and the car park at Clontarf closed."

no problems in Castlebar and the surrounding area after persistant but not heavy rain. usual low lying spots are under water as is normal this time of the year. clearance has reached the north west now with "fair" weather conditions reported at Belmullet at 1500. high tide up along the west coast around 1645 give or take a few minutes with moon rising at 1700(99% full)
