Oil boiler efficiency

    Hi all
    Would there be a huge efficiency difference between a new oil boiler and a one from circa 18 years ago. And what kinda cost would a new boiler be house has 14 rads

    Yes they'd be worlds apart. Installation would be over 2.5k easily depending on the work involved.

    What make is your old one. What kind of efficiency are you getting from it? What condition is it in? My brother has one about that age and uses about 1100 litres annually. I figure it would take about 10 years for him to recoup the cost of a new HE one. However he still wants me to replace it during next summer.

    Its actually a house im hoping to buy. So dont have anymore info on it. Have just been hearing stories about mad oil usage compared to gas. The house also has a solid fuel stove with back boiler.

    I always advise customers not to be going to the expense of switching to a condensing boiler unless their excising boiler is finished. In many cases IMO it is questionable whether the life and additional servicing costs of the condensing boiler will actually let you see a saving.
