I have a place for my 9 year old, mild dyslexia diagnosis and discalculia.
I've to let them know tomor and pay for his Jan 2015 place. It's 360 euros for the term.
Wondering, anyone any experiences to pass on. Was it worth it and did your child benefit. I have thought about a special teacher coming to the house as an alternative.
    Thanks.

Sorry, meant to add, they are dyslexia association of ireland run workshops.

I know a number of children who have attended. Much of what is covered would probably be covered by a good learning support teacher, but some children benefit from the extra repetition.

If a child is attending, we arrange that the child has very little homework that night, as the workshops are long and it's not fair to ask a child to do a lot of homework as well as to attend.

Thank you. I did wonder about homework, it takes about an hour, sometimes two to do homework.
I think I'm going to get a special teacher to come to the house. I think A would benefit more from the one on one experience, where his specific needs can be targeted. although the group setting looked fun.
    Thanks for your help again!

After 40 mins with a nine year, you need to stop homework, the child is learning nothing after that amount of time. Talk to the class teacher about differentiating homework for your child.

Yes, teacher is a homework fan. I think other kids might do it quicker, my A , because of his dyslexia, can be slow.
I've PT meaning soon and am raising this and other issues with him.
    Thanks.
