I have 6 years + NCB My premium last year was €395 Third party fire theft with No Nonsense but this year they quoted me € 465.
My question is Car Insurance gone up across the board. And does anyone know an insurance company they will do cheaper than € 465 I'm just looking for the best price i can get :-)

Male friend recently got insurance with "its4women".
Only tried them for the craic (bit of a loser like that!) but delighted with what he saved!

They can't actually give you a male quote, all quotes are equal.

Insurance premiums are tailored towards the individual insuring the car as much as the car you are insuring so there is no way anyone here could tell you whether it will be cheaper or not. When it comes to getting the best deal on insurance there is no short cut other than getting out the likes of the golden pages and ringing each insurance company and insurance broker. Just remember when comparing prices that you have to compare the level of cover too.

Cheap insurance quotes may look attractive but in a lot of cases the low premium reflects the level of cover and benefits. Dropping things like windscreen or breakdown cover to save a few extra quid can end up costing more when you need them.

Or you couldn't be bothered to go looking? All you have to do is search Motors for 'renewal', then sort by date and you'll quickly find these two on the subject of insurance renewal which were started since the middle of October....

Anyone else experienced Aviva's new Way to retain Customers?

    Insurance rates "gone up"

There is no gender base for quotes any more.

As I always say in these threads, jump ship and ring every broker and insurer you can think of. Just because one company is cheap for me doesn't mean it's cheap for you.

While you are right about letting your fingers do the walking and ringing around to find the cheapest quote and also comparing the cover offered, from my experience Insurance has rocketed since last year. My quote more than doubled on the same car with no material changes. No nonsense (not my insurer) wanted €980:eek:. And I'm an aul fella with 35 yrs no claims and only 2 points..

I've been between 300 and 400 for years on 2L car. Keep ringing around and you should get something good.

I find that it's getting more and more difficult to insure older cars in recent years...I get a lot of insurers telling me that a 2001 3 series is not something they will be competitive on, if I push they just give me some 2k quote. I have no claims, plenty of NCB, no penalty points, small mileage etc. It can be difficult at times!

This is completely nuts as all cars go through the same NCT - so there should be absolutely zero difference in terms of "likeliness of an accident" between a 2001 and a 2011 car. Seems to me like the pricing of everything car related in this country is set towards inducing people to keep buying newer cars.

Strange, my insurance this year was around €330 on a 01 3-series, so it is possible to get a decent quote still.
