Lads on Sundays outing I slipped and went balls deep in a ditch and got soaked, no matter about that , however my Hunter Wellies got filled with water and are still soaking wet, they are neoprene inside and will be a bitch to dry out for next Sunday, anyone got any ideas how I can get them dry, afraid to use a hair dryer on them

Pack them well with newspaper it will soak out the water, change it every so often, they will dry out quickly

I have used the hair dryer a few times you just dont block off the opening so the hot air can circulate out, if it cant circulate it will just keep tripping the hair dryer

Tumble dryer will do the trick

    Paper cheaper and as quick
Up to the person, works for gloves as well as other clothing items like jackets etc.
I haven't the time to be stuffing newspaper into things and then removing and restuffing.

buy a pair of boots and a pair of gaiters, ditch the willies, far better set up

Hank them upside down above your oil burner (if you have one) they will dry out perfectly

Hunt ground like you describe above and got soaked last 2 weeks in a row because of my boots. I thought it was sweat the first day (despite wearing appropriate socks). Dried them out and wore them again the next week, same result, soaked feet. So I started to wonder why they're suddenly leaking when they were great for 2 years.

Looking on lots of hiking and hill walking forums people were posting asking why their boots are now leaking or asking how do I re-waterproof my boots. Apparently, Gore-Tex breaks down from using the boots, more use the faster it will break down and start to let water seep in.

Wellies are now back in action, hunting on the third trip I returned home with nice dry feet.

My learning from this is that boots are brilliant until they fail. They are expensive. They appear to have a limited life time.

Gortex boots aren,t all there cracked up to be, leather boot and waterproof them yourself, and keep waterproofing them regularly would be my preference, but if you have the willies and there wet, any heat source, if you had a small electric blow heater for example point it into the willies and it will dry them out, Buy a cheap one would be a good investment during the shooting season.

Up date the insoles come out of the Hunters and I hung them up to dry, I packed the boots with newspapers which I changed a few times during the week, left the boots in the warm utility room and they are bone dry this morning... tks for the input lads :)

One pair of old socks (without holes), part fill with cat litter, tie knot or cable tie the top. Insert into boots and the cat litter will absorb all the moisture and keep unpleasant smells at bay.
For my money better than newspaper.
