I see bagged meal in the CoOp recently formulated for dairy replacement heifers.
20% protein, low starch, blah, blah,. Aimed at dairy replacement heifers in first winter. Supposed to maximize growth without giving rise to depositing of fat in the udder are. Maximize milk yield potential in later life.

I have 24 replacement beef weanling heifers going in the shed next week. Plan on calving at 24 / 26 months. Lim and Char crosses. Planned to throw them 2kg 16% beef nuts plus average quality silage. Out to grass first of March.
Usually add a bit of soya meal to up the protein a bit.

Any merits in using the dairy stuff, or is this just a load of marketing hogwash:confused:

I think that the protein rate is to high. Best go with a 16% protein beef nut.
