Hi all, can any of you good folks recommend a decent quality battery charger for tractors and digger use. 24 volt not needed.
Bought one of those Italian Shyte ones that are everywhere now a days. 12 and 24 volt, fast charge, boost etc.
    About €110.
Lasted about 18 months then give up. Out of warranty, of course. Polish auto electrician took on to fix it, and I got it back in working order. €40.
Give up after 6 months, and I opened it myself. All the bugger had done was bypass the fuse and make some other dodgy looking connections. Now with an Irish lad who was recommended to me, but he has it 8 weeks, and I don't believe he has even looked at it.

Any thoughts, or what do you have yourself?

Battery chargers are very simple items, a cheap and cheerful one is as good as the fancy electronic ones.
I dont use my one that often but have it a good few years now and it was a cheap one.

Um, yeah. I'll leave you off on that. I have a fair few. The Ctek leaves them for dead. It even de-sulphates and revives "dead" batteries. I think you may be behind the times on this one..

Can you describe how your charger de-sulphates a battery?

Hi Tail Docker, thanks for the info. What model is your Ctek, and what amps does it put out?

I have a 7002 and no idea of the amps, but as Rolls Royce say, it's adequate. :) Trust me, ctek do deadly chargers.

CTEK is the preferred battery charger for some of the most prestigious engineering brands in the world: Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley Motors, Scania AB, BMW, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Chevrolet (Corvette), Ferrari, Alfa Romeo S.p.A., Maybach-Motorenbau GmbH, Aston Martin, Arctic Cat, Yamaha Motor Company, Maserati, Mercedes, and more

But of course any cheap item from Aldi will do the same job, they're simple items electrically.

Listen to Tail Docker, CTEK are the mut's nuts

I dont have to, to de sulher a battery is a very simple procedure, people get caught up in sales talk and buy expensive equipment where often there is no need. How much did that charger cost you?

Cheers for that Wexie. Nicest post I've ever read on Boards, for various reasons.
