That seems steep. Would you not consider the bus? It'll cost you about half that.

Less: GoBus walkup is E23 return. Or E22 if you book on-line.

It's been years since I got the train to Dublin.

Not only is GoBus/Citylink cheaper, but its faster and gets you further into the city.

The train is for tourists and people with travel cards.

I prefer to pay the extra €2 and have a table to work on and be able to walk about and stretch

Train is good for work IF it's not jammers. I find it colder and noisier though (noisier because of all the station announcements), so if you want a quieter experience or a snooze the bus is the thing.

Are the plugs and wifi ok on the train these days? Haven't travelled on it in ages but might do soon for a group thing.

All available on the go bus

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,209 ✭✭✭✭JohnCleary

All available on the go bus

Listen, mate. This isin't a competition. I prefer the train, get over it.

And on a side note, can you show me a pic of said table on the GoBus where you can easily place your laptop, a notepad, phone and maybe even a magazine? And not forgetting the bottle of water. Good luck placing all of that on the flip-out table on a bus.

Do you work for GoBus or something?

All available on the go bus
On a coach, you are meant to be wearing your seat belt. Not walking about.

Nope it's not a competition, it's a question of priority.
Train has more room, a snack cart, Bus is cheaper, quieter (arguably) faster.

Both can have dodgy wifi and plugs.

Bus is rarely late, train is.

You can have free seats or be next to lunatics in both.

    Bus has more services.

    Train (some) have a bar.

    That about it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,288 ✭✭✭✭Mrs OBumble

    Train has more snob value.

Bus goes all the way to the airport.

And I'd say "Bus has vastly more services" not just "more services". It's 2-3 services per hour for a good bit of the day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,209 ✭✭✭✭JohnCleary

Granted, when i'm going to the airport, i'm on the bus alright :)

IE says seasonal mulch to blame for train delays

I think thats one more point to GoBus/Citylink.

Mind you I was on Citylink last night from airport to Galway, its a tough journey when The Fear has a grip of you.

Maybe Team Train and Team Bus could join forces and start researching teletransportation?
