    Hi,

Any recommendations for a 50K training plan. Do people generally use a marathon plan & make the LSR's longers, back to back long runs etc or use a specific plan ?

That should work perfectly well. 50km really is very close to marathon distance, so only should only a minor adjustment to training (if any). The main trap to avoid is thinking you can go out and run your normal marathon pace and keep it going. It does require a small pacing adjustment.

Thanks - my first move into longer than marathon distance and swinging between thinking I'm mad & looking forward to it :)

No matter how mad you might think you are there's always someone out there who is even more nuts (Tony Mangan being my own personal version of a madman :D)! Definitely one to look forward. It's great to push your boundaries out. Are you aiming for Donadea?

Yes - that's the beauty of this forum - loads of mad people ;) I'm aiming for Donadea so getting the head down properly from today :)

Good stuff. Donadea is a great race. The 10 x 5km laps format makes it relatively easy to pace yourself for the 50km, and ignore all 42.2km thoughts :)

I'm in a similar boat to kit3. Did my first marathon last week and would like to keep it going. The Donadea 50k looks like the perfect way to progress.

I have just done my second marathon in Dublin Marathon , have just signed up for Eddie Murphy Memorial 50K on 16th November, and I am doing Sea2summit next week. Hope I am not biting off more than I can chew....

They are offering quite a few distances at the Eddie Murphy, but 50k is not one of them

Just checked, ya its 30 miles (48k), probably the shortest ultra on the go. I was sweating it there for a second that i may have booked a double :)
