Hey lads is there any other driving ranges other than the Spawell as the have put their prices up and were dear enough as they were! its €8 for a small bucket now!

The mats are in bits + you never get the Tees less you go hunting for them!

I situated in the Drimnagh area so thats the only one I know of close.

I was in there on Saturday and was caught off guard at the price!

It will definitely stop me from the random stop offs to hit balls there

The only other one I know is Elm Green

I'm down at my Mums later today and I was gonna drop in for a few swings but not now.

€8 for a small bucket of balls is pretty gruesome, double the price of Celbridge!

Anyone know the costs in Stepaside?

Wheres elm green? I said it to the staff and they even agreed its ridiculous! and they said it to their boss but fell on deaf ears! jesus ud nearly get a round in some places on teetimes for that money!

    €6 for a small basket (50), €8.50 for a large (100) iirc. Also, €5 for a decent size basket before 5pm weekdays I think.

No use to you lads but the old range does unlimited balls for a tenner.

8 euro for a small bucket, are they even good balls or Shyte old range balls?

I wouldn't pay that to hit off grass with prov 1s

Stepaside has a good range card deal... 6 large buckets for €45. Mats in better nickthan Spawell, less busy and some have mirrors for checking if your hair still looks good.

Yeh I too got caught out last week with the price rise. Its very disappointing. I probably spend €150 a year in the spawell range. But ill b looking elsewhere now. Maybe rathcoole /lucan direction.

    I think it's........
    7.50 small
    8.50 medium
    9.50 large
Card loyalty system so every 8th bucket free

    Is Celbridge cheaper?

Poor poor decision by the lads in charge up at the Spawell. Got a bit greedy and from someone who probably left them at least €200 last winter, they won't be getting more than the €10 I spent to find out they had upped their prices.

It was too expensive before but they got me due to its convenience. I would be very surprised if that 10-15% price hike isn't matched with a 20-30% fall in sales.

Leapardstown range is pretty good. Haven't checked the prices recently. Nice facility.

    Celbridge is.

    4 small
    6 medium
    8 large

    Great value.

In fairness to Spawell an XL bucket is €9 but the pricing breakdown seems flawed.

Nice place though and nice staff.

I'm nearly sure an XL is €10 or €11?

They do an offer before 3pm on weekdays. All buckets €6 with the exception of XL being €7.

    Staff are great up there.

Price is mad, you could get out in corballis for a few quid extra,
Driving range in "the ward" has the right idea, they do an unlimited bucket for 10euro

mats are shlt never any tees but balls are ok went up last nite even though it kills me knowing there ripping me off! Whats the nearest one to it stepaside? been to the celbridge 1 before but its a bit far.

Oh and it was fairly empty last nite so I think they are shooting themselves in the foot!

See the think is the spawell is 4.6km according to google maps from my house and stepaside & Celbridge are 21km!

That's interesting because according to the AA Route Planner, Spawell to Stepaside is 13.8km - a 16 minute journey.

    I'd say Leapardstown is closer.

It's still a nice Leap away, gonna be hard to change your spots Benny considering the Spawell is so close.
Truth be told, I was going to cut down on the range work this winter anyway, if you're still going to plough ahead, then you could always look at it as going 9 times instead of 10, same price, just one less visit.

They used to have a loyalty card that gives a 15% discount I think.

It's only a few euro at the end of the day but it's the principle that bugs me.

@Parlance I have the loyalty card, its not so much the money more so the fcuking principle that gets me and the greed, if it wasn't winter a few more euro get you a round!

This thread sums up Carr Golf in a nutshell imho. Overpriced and underperformed.

Elmgreen have a great deal mid week before 4PM - large bucket for 6 Euro. 100 balls I think.

After 4 its 8 for the largest bucket.
