Broken hinge / frame on glasses

    Hey all,

I snapped both the arms(?) off my favourite pair of glasses. The frame around the lenses and then lenses themselves are perfect. The hinge is slightly damaged and the two arm(?) are detached from the frame.

I brought the into Specsavers but they offered no assistances and the forum search tool threw up zero results.

So, good people of the Eyeglasses & Contact Lens & Eyecare forum, can you recommend somewhere in Dublin that might repair the hinges on my glasses?

    Thank you,
    Retro

What you see as a small job is often time consuming, requires specialist equipment and carries a high risk of breakage. Some frames are just never the same after an incident like this.

    1) Return to the place of purchase.
    2) Try a stockist of the brand if you can't get to the place of purchase.

Most opticians are willing to perform minor repairs and or readjustments ie reattach the side and straighten the frame.
If the damage is fatal they may be able to replace a side, both sides front or the complete frame if it is still a current model. Expect to pay 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of the frame if parts need replaced.

Some repairs, soldering and repinning a joint can be done by the optician or sent out to a lab but will incur a cost and may mark your frame during the heating process.

Often the cost involved put people off the repair
