    Just wondering do many of
You still have the first tractor
To come to the farm. We still
Have the wee 1963 35x that
Came here in 1966. Still doing
The odd wee job. Old mans
    Pride and joy.

Ford NAN , bought in the late 40's. Still on farm but a rusty hulk. Still registered "off road" with the tax office, though!

We also bought a 35x in 1966 but it never even saw the field and was sold a year later, I still have a faint memory of the day it arrived even though I was only 2 and a half.

My late Uncle left his small farm to my brother and I.
    Included was the following - 2 x MF 20's, a MF35 and a 35x, 2 x MF135, a MF165 and a MF168.
We also have a Ford Nan (TVO) that he bought in the 1950's.
The MF168 and one of the MF165 is still in every day use.
The Nan is in storage in its original state.

As a matter of interest do you have the original tax book? Is it US or UK manufactured??

Yeah have original Tax Book. Don't know where it was built, Will look at the book tomorrow. ID 3366
I think the reason it was left lying up, was the rear differential was gone. I think the father said it was a worm drive type, as opposed to the usual crown and pinion .
Found the book. First registered 12 November 1940. The grandfather bought it in 1946. Road tax in 1946 was 6 pounds per year! That's probably 3 or 400 in today money. Went up to 8 pounds in 1953,

Don't quote me on this but from memory - if you go to the Ford (US) website and go to tractor website - type in the reg number or alternatively, if you have the log book or the chassis/engine number. It will tell you where the tractor was manufactured and assembled. .
My brother has the original brown log book for his Ford Nan.

Agree with your Dad. Put it under cover if it's not already there and wait a few years.

    1968 MF 135.Fully restored

Only last year got rid of MF 135. It was bought in 1966 and I can remember getting on it and turning the key. Bloody engine started and scared me out of 10 years growth! My parents, brother and grandmother actually got stuck in the door as they all tried to get out to come to my aid! I can still see it, like a 'Carry On' film. It was a long time before I ever went near it again!
Until I sold it I used to have either a transport box or the hay bob on it, but the PTO stopped working and the brakes were a bit sad as well, so it was getting both dangerous and not of much use.

The old boy reckons he was only paying £2 . 10 on his 434 in 1967 , would there be different rates of tax ?

OH has an very old IH lying up in the haggard. Don't know what model it is but it was worked until 10/12 years ago. A neighbour borrowed it along with the power hose and boiled the engine.
OH says that it will be his retirement restoration project.

Yep, Super Dexta, I suppose it could be said to be partially restored! Still going, does the odd job. First thing I lwarnt how to drive, hand throttle. Had to get a roll bar on it which doesn't look mad well. Many happy memories perched on the mudguard as a little one. Love that tractor!
