what sort of options are available to undertake after completing intern year?

is locum really being stopped in this country in january? how will the system even survive?

is it possible to do locum in the UK/NI or in Asutralia with just your intern year completed?

looking to do travel and make a few quid for the year, any suggestions or tips?

what other options are available if not jumping onto a scheme?

Locuming with no experience at the grade you are looking to work in is probably (and rightly) gone as an option.
If you want to travel then travel, if you want to work abroad go ahead but do it in a training grade, otherwise it will damage your career prospects badly.

is it possible to get a job in the UK after completing intern year here?
is locum an option in the UK?
are there many standalone jobs here if I wanted to work for 6 months and then travel?

    thanks

There are loads of stand alone jobs available...we have an NCHD crisis have you not noticed. If you are happy not to have it accredited to your training then you will get a job ( prob a crap one) but a paying job all the same.

Locum is not the end of the world. I did two stints of Locum work and got onto training schemes after both. It does mean you'll need a better cv than others in other areas. Generally he is right in that it doesn't look good to a lot of prospective employers.
Plenty of stand alone jobs available that are on the general HSE payroll and not Locum.
If you're interested in A&E or GP (or even psych) an option you might look into working for a cruise ship for 6 months or a year. Combines working and travelling (free of charge) I know a number of doctors who took this option. They would like you to have spent at least 6 months in A&E first though. Something to consider. I mentioned those specialities as far as I know working on a ship doesn't dampen your cv if trying to get ino those training schemes.
