    Hi

I am considering moving North and I'm wondering how this would effect my payment - is it a case of simply informing them of my new address etc and I would receive the welfare there? I'm on jobseekers at the moment living in Dublin.

    Thanks

Are you on jobseekers benefit or allowance?

    Jobseekers Allowance

Jobseekers allowance cannot be moved to another jurisdication. Once you move north of the border you payment from the south will be discontinued. You will need to apply in the North and will have to satisfy habitual residence status north of the border.

Thanks. The fact I havent paid any tax in the North would probably mean I wouldnt get anything :-(

tbh the fact the you have never lived or worked in the North would mean you wouldnt get anything.

What different would job seekers benefit make?

If you are on jobseekers benefit you can transfer you benefit within another eu country for 78 days whilst seeking work... you have to be in payment of jsb for 1 month before you can apply and you have to register with the unemployment office of the country you are going to and they have to send forms back to your sw office for the payment to be released.

Not true. A close friend of mine moved to the North and went straight onto Jobseeker's up there.

Strange... they must operate different guidelines in the North.
