People fall for the same scams over and over again and it will be that way till the end of time. From major rackets like the green industry to common charity scams like you've highlighted. There's no point resisting it, the best thing to do is to get in on it yourself, for instance a man could make a killing selling land for windmills, even better than the compulsory purchase motorway scheme I've heard.

AdBlue or DEF for trucks is another EU sanctioned racket, it's killing the haulage industry but there's plenty of coin to be made for somebody wanting to take advantage.
