I was offered a job Tuesday (part time) asked to start weds. In a clothes shop it only opened shop on Thursday. I explained I'd have to work out my notice in my current job. Also part time. That my boss was on holidays until Friday nd I'd be giving my notice then. I handed in my notice yest. Today when I finished work @ new job the boss said it's not working out I'm really sorry. What do I do? Am I entitled to the dole? If my husband has a good wage will I still get something

You gave a weeks notice yesterday but finished your first day at your new job today? Doesn't make sense.

I would try to get your old job back. If that doesn't work out then go to Dept of Social and tell them the same story that you wrote here.

You qualify for Jobseekers allowance or Jobseekers benefit in so much that you were let go, even if it was only after one day's work but your husband's earnings are taken into account so unlikely you would receive any payment on JA as it's means tested.

You may still be eligible for Jobseekers benefit though if you paid enough stamps in the past qualifying years. JB is not means tested
