Bringing gifts from US to Ireland

Hey,

I'm looking for info on if there is a limit on the amount/value of gifts I can bring from the US to Ireland for Christmas? Is this limit set by the US or Ireland?

Can't seem to find the right set of keywords that'll make google give me the answers.

Set by Ireland as far as I know. I think this should have the answers.

Yes, set by Ireland. I never had any trouble with Customs. They only checked my bags once, and didn't say anything about the gifts.

My sister had all her Christmas gifts stolen while traveling from Edmonton to Dublin via Chicago. The cases were still there when she got to Dublin, but they had been ransacked. Airline told her it probably happened in Chicago.

Forget Google, you need to go to revenue.ie and click on 'Customs'.

Frankly my dear

Came home for Christmas in 2012 with 2 suitcases, one with my stuff and the other just packed with wrapped gifts for the family etc. Nothing different from any other time I've traveled back to Ireland if that's any help. From JFK to Dublin.
