    hi

i drove over a storm puddle today,it didn't seem anything major out of the ordinary but i notice the car stuttered a little for a few minutes and got noisy after it

she's making a growling noise(like a middling loud exhaust noise) when i start the car and accelerate in the lower gears but you'd hardly notice when cruising.i've been driving a bit since and i'd say it's quietened down a bit since

car is a 99 mitsubishi colt 1.3 GL ,thanks(i'll be going to my mechanic monday but looking for a heads-up)

Sure it wasn't a Poodle you drove over?

The puddle could have bent an exhaust heat shield (thin metal and easily bent) so that it is now touching the exhaust and vibrating. I have seen this happen a few times and cause a growling noise.

Maybe the exhaust itself can crack if it is hot and gets a blast of cold water. I haven't seen that happen however.

thanks there is a loose heat shield over the exhaust near back of car,i remember seeing it.could that be the problem then??

i haven't gone back to check it and the noise didn't sound like a vibration ,more like the boy racer exhausts only quieter

anyhow i'll know monday if it's anything serious

it seems to be driving ok
