MX-5 Airflow meter 1.6 vs 1.8

    I am trying to buy a new airflow meter for a 2000 MX-5 1.6.
Part number as per housing is E5T520710525.
Searching for this part on ebay brings up MAF for a great many cars, but what really gets me is whenever MX-5 is listed it's ALWAYS the 1.8.
I do not know whether the MAF for the 1.6 is simply not available new anywhere on this planet or if it's the same part for the 1.8 and in that case why is it marked specifically 1.8?
I have been to many sites and any search for a MAF for a 1.6 turns up nought.
    Any ideas?

    Might have found an answer:
    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/N5403001-Nipparts-Air-Flow-Meter-Mazda-MX-5-Mk-II-/361084550601?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item541250fdc9
Lists both the 1.6 and the 1.8 as suitable cars, so I'm pretty confident this will work. (famous last words)
This then means I can buy one of these guys:
    http://www.autosensors.co.uk/en/326-air-flow-meter-sensors ****NOT MX5, WRONG PART!!!***
And get one for a tenth of the price
MX5 parts wanted something like £400, scary stuff!

No luck, the above link is not the right part!
    But this one is:
    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Luftmassenmesser-MAZDA-323-F-VI-BJ-S-MX-5-II-NB-PREMACY-CP-Air-mass-meter-/141137909327?#shpCntId

If you look at the meter itself, it's a completely different looking yoke.
This one is a very decent price, all the other ones have been north of €110 at the very best and the UK ones are £116 onwards, £60 used.

Sadly there's no cross-reference site I can quickly find.

But the last link you posted shows a few of aftermarket numbers:
    86250 MEAT & DORIA, ADM574203 BLUE PRINT, N5403001 NIPPARTS
    And maybe they're correct. :)

    Found more replacement numbers:

And where the same airflow meter was also fitted:

But I cannot guarantee the above is true. :o

Yep, that German link for €84 still far and away the cheapest. Wondering if it's cheap Chinese crap now.

Are you really interested in a NEW one only?

New one would cost you a fortune except aftermarket one - 100% made in China regardless what company packed it.

Problem with buying a second hand one is that you're just buying another unknown quantity.
MAF could seemingly work fine but be still not 100% and cause hesitation, bad idle, lack of power, etc..., so a second hand one could be "tested" and seem fine, but still cause problems.
And the cheapest I found second hand was £60, compared to €84 new, so might as well go with the new one and just eliminate that as a possible fault.

I realise that, but buying Chinese crap you risk it can be faulty out of the box. It's a lottery anyway. ;)
