Diesel skoda octavia ticks all the boxes, Huge boot, reliable and efficient. What tax are you trying to claim back on a car you can only claim the vat back on a van with a vat receipt not a car if thats what your trying to do.

I don't think petrol is deduct able for tax purposes so it has to be diesel

What the road tax like on an octavia?

What would your next choice be in a smaller car?

Tax will depend on the year you are looking at. You should be able to get a 1.6 TDI Octavia at the top end of your budget, these came in around 2010. Like most diesels from 2008 onwards the 1.9 TDi Octavia would be cheap to tax too.

You could look at a Toyota Corolla 1.4 D-4D car/carvan also. They were available up to 2007. Tough to find a clean one these days though.

VAT can only be claimed back on diesel fuel btw.

Hi, vat on diesel - will stick with diesel so.

Octavia is an option so. Have I to aim for a certain year to get lower road tax?

What would be your next choice aside from octavia?

Something tells me I will be looking in the UK again.

Co2 cheaper tax came in on all cars from 2008 onwards. The likes of vw passat, ford mondeo would all have big boots and could be worth a look.

It worth bearing in mind that if your company is buying this car then you will have issues with paying bik and all that hence why companies always buy vans. There shouldn't be an issue if you'd buying the car in your own name and charging mileage to the company. Best to talk to your accountant about it really I suppose. But worth mentioning as you would have to pay benefit in kind every year if you were planning for the company to buy the car.

Thanks, will be in my name.
    2008 onwards - cool
As a matter of interest, do you know what an Octavia 2008+ road tax is?

    Thanks.

    Around 280 euro for a 2008 1.9tdi octavia
The newer model 2010 onwards 1.6 tdi 200 euro yearly. Your going to be struggling to find a decent newer model for under 10k euro though.
