Advent Laptop Black Screen

Hi all, I would really appreciate anyone who is able to help me with this matter. I have an advent laptop, the laptop loads up no problem but when I try to select a program such as Microsoft word or excel to load up, the screen goes black, can anyone help with this problem?? Thanks

Is it every program?

Did this start recently? Have you downloaded anything? Hows your power supply/battery?

Have you tried a clean re-install? (suggesting this because it's often the easiest fix, and I have no idea what could be causing your problem.)
