They lost my NCD cert

I took out a new car insurance policy with a popular insurance company
sent away my direct debit mandate along with my no claims bonus cert
    from a previous insurer.
Paid my deposit and received my insurance etc
Then a week ago I looked at my emails and had received notification
that they were cancelling my insurance and to return discs etc as they hadnt received my NCB rang them only to be on hold for 20 mins so I hung up
and emailed them. The next day I received a registered letter stating my insurance will be cancelled and Gardai will be informed that I have no insurance
on car reg 96WW???? I applied for a duplicate NCB cert from previous insurer
but it didn't arrive in time to stop the cancellation of my insurance.
Now I am wondering because they cancelled my insurance will other insurance companies view me as a risk? And not entertain me?
    Any advice please appreciated:confused:

I think this might be more suited to Motors rather than Consumer Issues.

One of the questions that insurance companies ask you on their proposal forms is if you ever had an insurance company cancel your policy. You could find it difficult to get cover from another company. My advice would be to ring them up again (and stay on the line until you talk to a human) and try and sort it out with them.

My brother had this problem before. Rang the insurance company and flipped out down the phone till he got a supervisor. Explained to him that "ye got my DD form to take my money so how come ye missed the NCB form in the same envelope". He had no answer to that and said he'd check and get back to him. Never did but they didn't cancel his insurance either.

On a technicality it can go against you and you will not be quoted for insurance by some companies and it could prove to be a very difficult problem to overcome.
If I was you I would go into their nearest office and get to speak with someone face to face and get the problem resolved.

IIRC the question asks whether you have ever been declined a quote or had conditions imposed on you, not if you ever had a policy cancelled.

A lot of them ask both.
