A few questions about Ravenhill.

Heading up there for a charity game in a couple of weeks & have a couple of questions.

    1. Once inside the ground, can you access other areas of the stadium, if you want to meet up with someone in a different part of it? You know how at the RDS, you can leave the North and South Stands & walk behind the Anglesea and new stands and up to the other end of the ground? The ticket checkers don't let you access the actual seats, unless you have a ticket for them, but there are no physical barriers or gates stopping you from accessing other parts of the ground, if you want to.

Can you do that at Ravenhill? Can you move from East to West, or from Family end to the Memorial ends, or do you have to stay in the area where your ticket is for? Am hoping the ticket checkers are not overly bothered about all that stuff, seeing as its not a "proper" game.

    2. Ticketmaster says that the West terrace has a restricted view. Why is that, how bad is it?

    3. What side of the pitch do the teams enter/leave at, subs sit at etc etc? The kids are hoping to get a few aul autographs.

    4. How far is Ravenhill from the central train station. Is it walkable, or would a taxi be needed? What would traffic be like at 6pm & 8pm on a Saturday evening.

    Cheers.

You could walk it but you'd be looking at a 30-40mins or so walk.

    1. AFAIK you cannot access other parts of the ground. Ticket checkers ensure this is the case.
    2. I am a season ticket holder with the West terrace and have no difficulty seeing the action.
    3. Teams enter/leave from underneath the West stand where subs also sit.
    4. Ravenhill is a good 1.5 miles from Central Station. Traffic on a Saturday night shouldn't be that heavy unless there's a really big game at Ravenhill.

You can acess all areas of the ground from each entrance. You cant walk behind the family stand but you can all the others. It wouldnt take long either to walk around.

Im a west terrace season ticket holder also. No restricted views.

As above teams come in the west terrace.

Its not that far away imo and I would have no trouble walking it. Taxi shouldnt be expensive.

Thanks. I wasn't expecting to be given free reign to the place, just because it is a charity game. I was just wondering if had a more open layout, like the RDS, or if it was a stadium with a dedicated entrances and exits for each section. In those stadiums, if you are in one part, and you want to access another part, you have to physically leave the ground, go to another entrance & re enter the ground through another turnstile. That is a problem if you only have one ticket, but you want to meet up with people before/during the game, in common areas, that everyone can access easily.

The thing to remember is taxis in Belfast are dirt cheap compared to Dublin. A taxi from Central Station to Ravenhill should only cost a few quid.

On point 1 if it's a full house you can expect them to be tight on which terrace you go into before the match. I'd imagine less so if the terraces aren't sold out.

They seem to relax somewhat at half time, I've often managed to join friends in the other terraces at the break.

Both entrances to the ground feed into a central area where the bars and catering are located so you'll have no bother meeting your mates there.

As has been said, taxis are cheap in Belfast. Alternatively the No.6 bus from Central Station heading out of town will take you there, just hop off at the roundabout on the Cregagh Road. Fares are £1.95 each way, so if there's more than two of you a taxi would work out cheaper.
