    Hi Everyone!

Was just wondering has anyone gone for an interview with Bank Of Ireland for the position of Branch Assistant. What type of questions do they ask and do they use competency based questions. Thanks!

I did the interview last year in College Green. Basically they wanted the formalities all done first (the photocopies of the documents they ask you for)

    Then,

They just asked me to talk a bit about myself.
They asked me what my skills were.
Was I ever in a group project in college? How would you resolve conflict if someone wasn't doing their job. Give a 'real example' about how you redressed the situation (I spoofed a little on this as I did an arts degree ;))
    They asked me my motivations.
They asked me how I would put together a fresher week project. (My Interview was in September, mind..so Freshers week was going on)
Then, they ask me why I should be chosen for this position.

Hopefully you have some indicators. It was generally personally based. No case studies.

    Good luck

I think it was about a week. It wasn't any more than that anyway.

Yes I was offered a position in a BOI in town. However, I got another job so I rejected BOI in the end.

I went down a couple of weeks ago to Cork. Haven't heard back yet but I don't think I'll get it. They gave me less than 24 hours and I was totally under prepared for it as a result. They said they've loads of jobs for the south west region and they said training will be on the job so it might be another week or two before they get back to you.

I checked the web site last week to see if they were still running the drive for recruitment and they were advertising specifically for Cork branch assistants.

You never know but I have almost given up hope of getting a 6 month role with them.

What kind of benefits were on offer?

Money was good and it was a great opportunity to study for and sit for the finance exams which would have been paid for by bank.
