BBC are reporting an in-flight anomaly, while The Guardian is reporting it's crashed. News still coming in ...

edit: AP on Twitter: "BREAKING: California Highway Patrol reports 1 fatality, 1 major injury after SpaceShipTwo accident."

    :(

From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch’.

More details and a statement on Spaceflight Now:
Virgin Galactic’s partner Scaled Composites conducted a powered test flight of SpaceShipTwo earlier today, the company said in a statement. “During the test, the vehicle suffered a serious anomaly resulting in the loss of the vehicle. The WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft landed safely. Our first concern in the status of the pilots, which is unknown at this time. We will work closely with relevant authorities to determine the cause of this accident and provide updates as soon as we are able to do so.
