Hi. Just bought a car from my brother who is emigrating and the tax is out 6 months and no NCT on car. Which must be got first, tax or NCT? I am in no hurry to use the car as I am giving it to my daughter for xmas.

Doesn't matter. You can get them in any order you want.

I won't be refused taxing the car without NCT documentation then. Thought I needed that.

Seems like a good plan. Then no need to tax it till roadworthy.

Well it is roadworthy but you know what I mean.

You'll most probably have to back tax it though from the day you brought it after the nct is done?

Yes I understand that. I won't have to pay six months back tax though will I?

No only from the date it was transfered into your name.
