I found the disposable ones terrible.

Fine for cupboard under the stairs or a wardrobe but even their own blurb says household activities like showering produce up to 12l of moisture per day how many will this remove.

Do these run on Electric?

No, it absorbs moisture then it drips down to the tray under. It's a chemical process crystal traps moisture turns into liquid which won't evaporate any more.
