Hi.I have set myself target to start college engineering course next year as adult learner.Course as you know is very math based- so i need to be very good at maths.
I really struggled with maths in school and now, 15 years later I have forgotten everything I ever learned. I am starting from scratch.

For past two weeks I am watching khanacademy videos every evening for 1-2 hours and its going ok, but I feel that I need supplement my studies with books.

Can you recommend maths book with clear explanations and examples aimed at beginners?

You could consider Engeering Mathematics by Stroud.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Engineering-Mathematics-K-A-Stroud/dp/1403942463

    Takes you through everything.

    As above:

    Engineering Maths - K.A.Stroud

Engineering Maths though applications - Kuldeep Singh

    Engineering Maths - John. Bird

    Engineering Maths - Croft

All of the above will assume a little knowledge. If you're looking for something to start you at the very basics then the "ENgineering Maths First Aid Kit" which very nicely is available in .pdf form to download here:

Any of the old leaving cert books would be a good place to start. The old Text and Test series were very popular. With the new project maths syllabus, there should be lots of second hand copies around.
