Hi there just a quick question. My mother has just got a cheque but has no photo id so has no way to cash it. Can I just lodge it into my bank account without her showing some idenification? Im with Ulster Bank.

    Thanks.

Unless the cheque is crossed in a restrictive way, the answer is yes. She should sign it on the back to indicate that she is transferring it to you.

A crossing involves two parallel lines on the face of the cheque with or without associated words. The effect of a crossing is to tell the bank that the cheque should be paid into an account rather than cashed.
