    THIS SPIDER WAS IN MY MATES BED. he killed it instantly. what kind of bloody house spider is this?????? please is it dangerous there are 3 young children living in the house.

    I *think* it's a false widow, seems to be a lot of them appearing these days. They're harmless from the point of view that they don't go looking for trouble but it seems their bite can be painful enough.

    That said, with mod hat on now I'll hand you over to the Nature and Birdwatching forum now, as the good folk there know more about spiders than I do :)
    Please be aware that their charter applies from now on.

    false widow spider; very much hyped but largely safe. They can bite and some people react allergically but they are no more dangerous than wasps/.
