Not affiliated with the seller in any way by the way, seems like a great price.

The seller in question is under watch on adverts.ie as a posable scammer as they don't have any products in stock and you give them money and then they order on the friday of the week then it takes 5 days to get to them BS. Then it takes another 5 days to get to you.

If its to good to be true its a scam sorry for a new item.

Like i have account with the wholesaler for apple products in Ireland when i was looking to buy my new mac i reg with it with the company i am a Directer of and the wholesale cost was nearly the same as buying from apple as there is very little mark up on apple products thats why you very rarely see a discount on them as the wholesale price is high i think the wholesale cost of that iPad is about 400 euros with a 10% discount including shipping.

I asked that seller for a VAT number to see are they proper and buying wholesale they refused and told me there a single mother of 5 and won't give me it as its rude to be asking for stuff like that ...

"We purchase from our supplier every Friday so depending on date of purchase you will have your order within 14 days of purchasing."

Sounds very dodgy, especially given the high cost item's they're selling and their lack of feedback. €299 for a brand new PS4 rings all kinds of alarm bells.

Agreed the mark up is very low on iPad for the retailer but the reason you cant get anything off through your wholesale channel is because you are not an authorised Apple Reseller. You buy at the same rate like the end user, only Apple Resellers can buy from a Apple Distributor at a discounted rate.

Like if you play video games yourself you know the mark up on video game consoles are extremely low and basically break even for the shop maybe at most a 50 euros on it for a large retailer as the consoles makers make there money back on you buying the games not the consoles

I got 10% of the listed price of a iPad but wasint really worth while. But this person in question on adverts is no way in hell a Apple Reseller as if they where they would be saying they where and you could easily find that out.

There only contact is a Facebook page with less then 400 likes set up in the last month

I seen that there myself but i went and read his comments on the adds and he only bought it 5 days ago and considering the seller is saying it takes 14 days to get your item in question i call BS.

Ya someone said they got an iphone, adverts isn't like ebay where you can only give feedback on a verified purchase. I could leave a message for him feedback now and say "thanks for the 10 ipads"

Its the old adage here folks "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is"

Screams Scam to me.. Apple don't do discounts! Have bought iPad's and Mac's for customers before and no discounts to be got at all. Even if you take the VAT off a 64GB it still doesn't come near €399.

Exactly. There's no way that someone selling a brand new PS4 for €299 is making money on that transaction.

It seems like a great price because it is a total scam. The retail price for that product is €609. Do you really think that is somebody could legitimately buy those and sell them at that price and still make a profit that they would be selling on adverts.ie? I cant believe that somebody would post this as an actual bargain.

As prob argos is buying say the bundle for there wait is it 200 + stores at €360 at lest as they hope you buy controllers and other add ones with the console to make money

As with adverts it is stupid the way the feedback works it should only completely like eBay.

As on the add i called the person out on this guy came along and said some scam site in china he buys his stuff from he got a a iPhone 6 64GB for 270 euros i went to him it costs nearly that to make the thing a ship it in the 1st place LoL and he said he also worked in apple and thats there wholesaler a crowd from china he was about 16 years old .... and dosint look like the type who works in IT ...

The said scam site was also seeking PS4 from china and to make it funnier you cant buy PS4s in china unless its a grey market import from Japan

As has been said, there is no margin for discount on new apple products for sellers. Only way to do it, is with grey imports where they import from the States where they are cheaper. But even still, this screams scam and should be avoided.

The other thing from looking back through the vendor's comments is the 100% complete unwillingness to met anyone or let them collect the items. Again, more alarm bells.

There taking paypal on there adverts store but they will give a 5% discount if you order of there Facebook page and pay with a bank Transfer

Basically anyone who wants payment with a bank Transfer is a scammer in my view as you will never be able to claim anything back

Like a good few people have bought stuff from what i can see and i fell sorry for anyone who is going to get scamed because of this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Even with Paypal, they've left themselves a two week window to withdraw the funds and disappear before the delivery is due. Really lax that this is allowed to stay up on adverts.

The first advert appeared on the 20th Oct, the day the seller joined Adverts, and I asked questions mentioning too good to be true. He responded that all was good and made claims as stated above posts. I asked more questions and reported the ad to the Mods at Adverts. Eventually he became aggressive in his responses accusing me of negativity. At all time I said that I hoped he was genuine but he needed to show more proof of business activity. He was after all asking for sums of 300e + with no promised delivery for over 3 weeks. Eventually he resorted to saying that he would have my posts removed and next day they had. I contacted Adverts again and was told that they were looking at it and the person answering my query added that he had added "his own dollop of sceptisim". He has continued to answer all questions with cut and paste answers. I also warned adverts of the possible loss that collecting 4 weeks orders, all paid up front, could result but heard nothing. It may be genuine but it was unfair that this guy was allowed to break so many of Advert's rules. He could provide outside links/he could allow contact without offers being accepted and he could claim to have 10 of each item for sale and then say that he carried no stock. I am pleased the OP has picked up on this and really hope that nobody will lose money.
What is now worring is that he is customising orders so the 399e I Pad2 Air is now posted because someone asked for it.
His claim that these are genuine/european goods/warranty by Apple is difficult to believe. The Apple store is selling it for
609e and they are selling one to him to enable him to make a profit at 399e and they (Apple) will take over the 12 month care of the item.
This is his Facebook site set up on the 2nd Oct. http://www.facebook.com/wholesaleprices4u

Incidently two days ago all the adverts were removed from Adverts as no longer available but yesterday they were back. Just what is going on we might ask?

Any feedback that starts with "wow" should raise a flag of suspicion, never mind the impossible pricing.

Judging by their facebook page, they have caught a good few people, seems to be a good few orders going by comments.

Reported it myself and got a message back to say they're 'monitoring the account'. So there's unlikely to be any action until someone reports they've been stung by then it'll be too late.

Misleading ad here by the same seller:
    http://www.adverts.ie/xbox/microsoft-kinect-for-xbox-360-xbox-one/6715381

The comments are the best part.

Considering the tone of this thread, and the concern of those posting to warn others, the title seems a little underwelming. Maybe the OP would consider that something like "possible scam" could be added. Totally his choice though as his original post was to help people get a bargain.

As reported, probably better to just lock this as it doesn't appear to be a real BA. Hopefully it'll serve as a warning to anyone who might have been thinking of ordering.
