Posting this on behalf of someone.

They're in the process of selling a house and the Solicitor is looking for a Certificate of Discharge only the Council have no record of the house or owner.
They paid the tax by Visa Debit as they wouldn't take cash at the time at the Council Offices in person but weren't given any receipt.
How do they prove they paid it.

Does their bank statement showing a Visa Debit transaction to the value of the NPPR being paid to the Council's/Dept's/Revenue's merchant ID not suffice for the council?

I don't know tbh. Looks like they'll have to contact their bank to see if they have their visa debit details as they don't keep bank statements around the house.

    Check their email for receipts.

Plus can they not log on to the system now and access receipts - I can do it that way.

    Thanks, I'll pass that on.
