Tax Relief on Tution Fees

I pay just over 7k a year in college fees and usually send in a receipt twice yearly (as I pay in two installments) to claim tax relief. I know that the disregraded amount has increased steadily over the past number of years (around 1500 now?). Recently I ceased employment with an agency and was made permanent in the company I am placed in. When I got an amended tax certificate, one part of it says "tax relief tuitionfees 500 per year" - so they appear to have increased my weekly tax credits rather than what they did before, which was have me on normal tax credits, and just refund whatever lump sum I was due into my payslip. Anybody know why this was done? I don't remember being asked - has the system changed?

    Thanks
