    Hi guys,
I found a nice apartment in Howth Road (Dublin 3) between the dart station of Killester and Clontarf Road (very close to the howth road/st.lawrence road bus station).
The apartment is pretty nice (new, spatious, a lot of windows, car parking and so on...) but I don't know nothing about this area.
Do you think is it safe? Do you think is it a nice area to live in?
Another small concern is that I did not see so many shops or supermarkets in this area (just close to Killester Dart Station).
Please, let me know what do you think.
    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have found yourself a nice spot. Area is safe by Dublin standards.

I think that some of the apartments at the railway bridge flooded during very heavy rain in 2012. So if you have a ground floor apartment there it would be a concern.

Shopwise, Killester Village is the best bet as you noted.
In other direction, the small garage has a Mace shop attached.

There's a pub and restaurant on Hollybrook road which would be handy for you, and Harry Byrne's pub.

    lovely area.
close to town, and beside lovely coast road for walking, cycling. Very near to St Annes Park which is beautiful.
    Do you have a car?
    Big supervalu in Killester.
    Tesco Express in Fairview.
Aldi in East Wall Road would be a 5min drive or so away.

@odyssey06: it is a second floor apartment. So, it should be safe.

@whiskeyman: thank you for the information. Unfortunately I don't own a car yet.

Really lovely area, lucky you. Supervalu Killester is a nice shop with a great selection of fresh food, bakery etc. Nice cafes, pubs nearby. There is a Tesco and Aldi in Artane which is probably a 15/20 minute walk. You are close to DART and good choice of buses to city centre. Good luck in your new home :)

Oh sorry, thought you'd already moved in! Well if you do decide to live there, it would be a good move, I'm not far from there myself (in Raheny) but it's one of my favourite areas, especially this time of year. :)

The average person will not walk to Artane from St Lawrence Road/Howth Road in 15/20 minutes. It would more likely be double those times.

OP, as other mentioned SuperValu in Killester and Tesco Express in Fairview would be your closest supermarkets. I often shop in SuperValu and it has everything you need. Nolan's Supermarket on Vernon Ave in Clontarf do some lovely artisan food. If you fancy a stroll to it at weekends it is about 15 mins away from you.

Safety wise I wouldn't be afraid walking around the area day or night.

Wow, that's a big walk, more like 45 minutes.

Google Maps has the walk between 20 and 25 minutes.

    Otherwise, nice spot, very safe.

I live up Howth Rd in Killester in apartment. Lovely area and more so closer to the city down towards that area. Very safe. St Annes Park nearby which is one of the best in Dublin, big SuperValu in Killester, great walking and running down the waterfront in Clontarf, really good restaurants.

Also you have arguably the best pub in Dublin nearby, Harrys Brynes. My favourite pub around.

How much is the rent, and how can you afford it? What's your job?
