Why have Amazon stopped delivering PC's to Ireland?

Pretty much every Desktop on their website has "Sorry, we can't deliver this item to Ireland" in the product details section.
I want to order the same PC I ordered and received last year and cant.
A customer service guy told me they have recently moved under some sales restrictions, and the delivery restrictions may vary time to time.
Does anyone know if this is a temporary thing or permanent?

Are you buying from Amazon or is it "fulfilled by Amazon"? Some of the " fulfill d" sellers only deliver free within the UK and some don't send items to Ireland or elsewhere at all.

No its "Dispatched from and sold by Amazon." Its a "Zoostorm-7877-0328"

Its probably more the weight than anything else. It has no problem shipping laptops or small form factor PCs. Its just big desktops it has a problem with

You could have a look at parcelconnect.ie, they offer a virtual address in NI too and you can collect it in a store (they have partner stores) where you live. The maximum they do if I recall correct is 30 kg.

They had no problem shipping the exact same PC to me before.

Ya, I see new WEEE Regulations came into effect on 29th March (S.I. 149 of 2014). Maybe thats it?
The Government try to do good by the environment and we can no longer buy electronics from abroad. Its going to cost me 50% more to buy an equivalent PC from Ireland.

Will look into the Parcel collection options.

I got a reply back from the Amazon Customer Escalations team:

"I am sorry to hear you have been unable to place an order for the Zoostorm PC which you have ordered previously for us.
Unfortunately, they were sent to you in error in the first instance. We are not allowed to ship items which contain lithium batteries internationally, however our catalogue was only updated to correctly state that it contains a Lithium battery in June of this year."

This has to be bull? They ship laptops to Ireland.

yeah, that answer sounds like bull. The only battery in that pc would be the tiny cmos battery and i think they are ni-cd not lithium.

Is that the one that costs over 1k? Why not just buy it elsewhere? For the money, it's not like it's a bargain. Zoostorm use some of the cheapest components I've ever seen, as well (we have some different models of them here, cases are flimsy and power supplies are obscenely loud/cheap).

Dabs sell a similar model here for 765 and 2 euro postage. I7-4770, 16GB Ram, 2TB hard drive. If you need a graphics card, you could add a new power supply and a card faster than what's in that Amazon one and it would still cost less than buying the one from Amazon, and be a better PC all around.

The Dabs one looks decent alright.

Reckon I'm going to go with this:
"Paradigit Enforcer i7 4790K-760" from Komplett

Its an extra ~€310 but better hard drive, processor and has it has an extra SSD too.

cmos batteries are usually lithium batteries.

meh, they were ni-cd in my day. Still doesnt explain why they wont ship as they are happy to ship smaller PCs and laptops.

Sounds more like the cost of the shipping and insurance has stopped them as they still sell laptops and other items with batteries, they just include a special label stating the type that they are sealed in the packaging.
