Do employers know if you have been on social welfare/jobseekers?

Just wondering if they have access to these records, in general.

Access to records and intimate detail, no.

Know you were on welfare, yes.

    It depends.

If you were applying for a job they'd have no way of knowing. They could look at the gaps on a CV and figure it out but they couldn't seek confirmation from the department.

On certain schemes such as casual job seekers the department may need to engage with your employer to determine work pattern or amount earned so in that circumstance they would know but they wouldn't have any details about how much, how long etc.

They can't just seek to find out if someone is getting a payment though.
