N7000 as media player

I have a Galaxy Note here with a smashed screen, the cost of repair makes it a write-off so I was thinking about attaching it to my TV via HDMI and using it as a media player, and whatever else it may offer.

I have ordered a micro USB USB and HDMI combined cable (MHL) but will also need to connect a remote. I have one of these - http://www.amazon.co.uk/iPazzPort-Wireless-Keyboard-Backlit-Touchpad/dp/B005C71L5Y/

My question is, will this work? I think I need a USB splitter to plug in the power source and remote dongle. What else am I missing? Potential battery issues when running of USB power?

    Wasting my time? :D Cheers.
