Hey, need some help. I'm going to be getting myself a car sometime this week I've been off the road of a few months the question is - I don't have anyone that can drive the car back for me and I've no insurance. I'm going to be taking public transport to go to viewings.
So when I do the deal how can I get myself insured on the spot to drive it back? Is it as simple as giving a insurance company a ring letting them know I've got a car, and I'll be insured to drive the car back home?
    Cheers.

Yeah, you can take the keys, then call the insurance company and buy a policy. To make it easier you could go online and get a quote for the car you're going to look at. Then if you buy the car, just enter your quote number and pay, you could even do it on your phone, should only take 5 mins.
Tax is a different story, you have to run the gauntlet on that one.

Iv bought plenty of cars without tax on them and iv never really had a problem driving them home. The last one i had got i met a checkpoint and the cop done me for non display even tho i explained to him i had just bought the car. Anyway a quick call and a couple of emails later to the relevant people and the fine was squashed. Obviously insurance is a must so id definitely sort that out first.
