Audi A4 1.8T 2003 - mechanic recommendation

The above car giving trouble with idle speed these last number of months. Ranging from revving up to 2000 rpm to chugging along / lumpy at 800 rpm and sometimes behaving normally. Other than using more petrol than usual the car is fine otherwise (I'm mostly on the motorway anyway)

Had it at a mechanic for a timing belt recently and had him install a new, genuine coolant temp sensor (a solution posed by an Audi forum). Also put in a new, genuine, 90 degree piece of rigid plastic piping as the original had cracked badly.

No improvement however. The faults appear (English isn't his or his diagnostic computers first language) to be "ignition coils" (3 out of 4 of them, although these were replaced free by Audi as part of a recall about 10 months ago) and "throttle"

I figure the best thing is to take it to someone whose fairly familiar with this model. Can anyone recommend a mechanic in the north Dublin, North Wicklow area?

What about an Audi mechanic (one of who I came across doing other business who said he does nixers). Would they be used to this kind of trouble shooting or would they be more restricted to working on far younger, lower mileage models?

How are the pcv hoses, had a similar problem on my golf 1.8t recently, the pcv hoses were all perished and split.

I drag out the Haynes and have a look. Are there any other straightforward (I'm presuming the pcv hose inspection straightforward :)) checks I could make?

Check the one that runs from the inlet manifold to the pcv valve t piece, it's normally rotten..

    Try cleaning the throttle body....

I had similar symptoms with an older 1.8T. Ran fine most of the time and then randomly got a fit of crazy idling. Turning it off and on usually sorted it, until it's next episode. Code was showing up air/fuel mixture though. Turned out to be the MAF.
