    hi guys,

Random question but looking for creative solutions. Our bathroom in rented accom is freezing in the morning. We have a towel rail heater thing but it needs to be switched on and I'm guessing it eats electricity.

Would anyone know what I could do to get the place warmer in the day?

    Thanks,
    R

Well no matter what you use it would still have to be switched on.

With rented accomodation you're limited as what you can do with the consent/help of your landlord. I suppose the most basic thing for you to do is at least draughtproof the window. It's amazing the difference that some new draught seals can improve things as well as silicon/sealant around the window frame & perhaps underneath the window board.

You could ask the landlord about getting an electrician to explore the possibility of installing a wall mounted fan heater like this: http://www.powercity.ie/?par=70-25-FX20V

The place would still be cold when not in use but would heat up pretty quickly & provide sufficient heat & for the length of time you'd be using it wouldn't add that much to your electricity bill.
