    Hi all,
Any opinions in what to get for new electric trolley? budget circa 450 (I have 300 in local proshop vouchers built up over the year). Have been told golf glider most reliable... any merit in this?

Ps - sorry if this covered before.. I could only find an old thread from 7 years ago.

I have the MotoCaddy which would be in your budget. Folds very neatly, easy to manoeuvre and if I was replacing, I'd definitely get another one.
Battery is 18 hole standard and I've got 4 years out of it. Still doing 18 holes but light coming on for about last 2-3 holes.

I think though with the budget you have, any of them in that price range are pretty good.

I have a Golf Glider for about six years and very happy with it. I switched to the Lithium battery after the original one gave out after about four years. I would recommend getting the Lithium battery at the start. Light, good range and recharges really fast.

I've been using a GoKart for the past 3 years and i have to say it is brilliant. 18 hole battery easily does 36 holes, the trolley folds up to make it very compact and it has never given a moments bother. The aftersales service from GoKart is one of the best I've exxperienced. I ripped the carry bag for the trolley after approx 1 year and they sent me a new one in the post, no questions asked.

Another vote for the golf glider here too. I only use it a few times a year as I prefer carrying my bag. Apart from cracking the handle I've never had any bother with it and I have it years. I bought it secondhand too.

    +1 for GoKart.

Class machine, great customer services, if required. A bit funky to boot - recommeded

I bought my Golf glider about 15 years ago, rarely caused a problem and has taken dogs abuse.

As a matter of interest, what sort of service do you need to get from them? And how often?

Genuine personal service with any enquiry, it feels like a family business - they also offer a free replacement loan trolley if you ever have to send yours back for a repair(not that I've ever had to do this before)

Fair enough. Its just that I haven't needed any service on my Golf Glider in the six years since I got it. They did give it the once over when I was changing from standard battery to Lithium and that was without charge. There is a lifetime guarantee on the chassis,

Anyway it sounds as if they are both excellent products.

I recently got a Motocaddy. No complaints so far - slim design, easy to fold, lithium battery charges in no time. Great customer support - I needed a lower bag strap and Motocaddy sent one out quickly without cost.

I have mine 3 years and have had no problems with it yet.

    GoKart all the way....

Wouldn't be seen dead with a golf glider either as it looks crap. Plenty of equally good products that don't look like they were hacked together in in my shed.

Interesting. Could you tell me your usage and charging pattern ?
I ask as I am on my 3rd battery and I bought the kart in 2010.
Last one lasted 15 months. I use it one a week or once a fortnight and it goes directly back on charge and is left there till I take it out again.

For most of the year I am playing 1 game a week. I don't play much over the winter so it used around 40 times a year. A lot of that golf was played in Cobh and Fermoy so it has had to put up with the extra strain from the hills.

I put the battery on charge as soon as I get home and unplug it once it is fully charged.

If you are having problems then a lithium battery might be an option. They are a lot more expensive but come with a 5 year warranty from GoKart.

I have mine about 4 years and the original battery is still 100%. I played 15 holes recently and left the battery in the car after by mistake. So no charge and I played 18 holes the following day no problem. During the summer it would be used 3/4 times a week and put on charge immediately on getting home. I leave it charging then until I leave to go golfing whenever that might be. It really has been a trouble free unit.

Ok so sounds like I am an outlier based on a sample size of 3 :D

They sent me a half price battery the last time (last week) but to be honest I was expecting 2-3 years rather than 15 months. Only complaint I have.

Bought a second hand gokart 5 years ago. Dropped it and made a huge mess of the frame. It still worked but was in a bad state sent it back for the total rebuild this year and basically got a new trolly back for 120 quid.

I dropped my Golf Glider onto a concrete path and it broke it.
    The concrete path that is.

I want a trolley that will not break, I honestly dont care what it looks like, its under my bag.

Lol, you said what I was about to say but so much more eloquently :D

I do think the base of the glider looks a little industrial

I think I might be tempted by the lithium next time I need a new battery - there must be a reason they offer 1yr on the standard and 5yrs on the lithium?

Problem is lithium is 250 and that's a big outlay. I just assumed I'd get more than I am.

The Lithium battery is great and so easy to handle. The downside of switching is that you have to get a new charger. That adds to the cost and leaves you with a redundant old charger. So if I was getting a trolly for the first time, I would go straight to Lithium.

Thanks for all messages. Bit surprised with all the support for the GoKart (had never really heard of it). Ultimately I am thinking Golf Glider as the narrower wheel base fits better for the car, and for the concrete breaking reliability.

    Lithium ... yes / no ?

Don't forget many of the trolleys have removable wheels, such as the MotoCaddy and the GoKart. It's literally a 2 second job to remove, so these types will suit nearly all boots.

If budget allows, lithium is better from the off.
