    Hi Guy
I want to store my left hand drive Golf 1.9 TDI. I know it's no classic but saving for a mortgage so no point having 2 cars on the road.
Any tips on do's and don't?

    What year/milage is the car?
Are you definitely going to use it again?
How long will it be off the road for?

    I would consider selling it.

If keeping it you should remove all fluids, battery, lift the car off the ground and remove the tyres at least.
Also before you put it off the road have the fuel tank fairly low as this way you wont have to drain out stale fuel.

This is a bit of work which is why I would suggest selling it.

i would sell it if you have no real plan of putting iy on the road,if you leave it for 2 yrs expect to sell it for parts hard to sell a ar thats been standing a while unless its a special one.
i just bought a mk2 mr2 rev5 for coupl hundred bacuase it was standing for a few years
great car solid engine and body.needed a coupl of bushes and booked for the nct next month

I did consider selling it but I'd get nothing for it and it's a great car tip tronic sport version.

Instead of parking it up your better off moving it every few months, even just from one side of the driveway to the other, as unless you've a temp controlled storage your going to have issues and a lot of prep work.

In saying that we'd a Sierra parked up for years, with zero prep, and it started first time with fresh petrol and battery. Still needed a full service and new tyres but the car was good for another few years, it's fondness for fuel ended it.

Are you able to drain engine oil, gearbox oil, coolant, brake fluid and remove wheels yourself? If not then I think that it will cost you a lot to store her properly.
You should also coat the brake discs in something to stop them rusting. If they are old I wouldnt bother and just replace them when you put her back on the road.
