    Bit of advice needed

Have batch of cattle on good fresh grass and 2 kgs meal.

They have started to look bit hungrier lately with the change in weather and grass getting more watery.

Have few weeks of grass but also plenty of decent silage.

Anyway I wonder should I run them in and go silage and bit of meal for last four weeks or keep them out and up the meal a little.

worried that changing to silage will put them back due to digestive change.

    Any advice welcomed.
PS don't want to feed ring feeder in field.

For four weeks no. If you have grass and not worried about them outside up the ration to 4 or 5 kgs will work out cheaper than inside. Get a bit of straw or hay as well and feed out in field. Just the equivlent of a half a square bale between 8 or 10. spread it out in middle of field while they are eating ration. If you have not got hay if you have haylage type silage that will do as well

Amazing the benefits of a bit of straw at grass when the weather changes. Seems to help cattle look their best when otherwise they would be shiitting grass through themselves and getting very dirty.

    good advise ^^

if you have dry baled silage bring out a few fork fulls in a back bucket of even wheel barrow & up the meal

started giving baled silage to the milkers here about 10 days ago, they dived on it for the first few days but now consumption has decreased

getting no meal cos of quota & obviously need some fibre
